Why Choose ATLAS Pressure Reducing Valves?

ATLAS pressure reducing valves lower a high inlet pressure to the outlet pressure required by the installation, supporting distribution-network pressure management. The hydraulic mechanism uses the water supply pressure and needs no external electricity for its standard hydraulic control function.

Pilot-valve adjustment controls main valve opening to help maintain the required outlet pressure. A diaphragm or piston actuator transfers hydraulic force to the main closing element according to the valve type, providing automatic regulation rather than a fixed restriction.

An enlarged body, stainless steel seat and optional V-port closure element can be evaluated for the application’s flow and control needs. Cavitation conditions must be assessed at high differential pressures, with staged reduction where necessary. Correct sizing supports appropriate operating pressures for network equipment.

Key benefits

  • Hydraulic control powered by the water supply pressure.
  • Outlet-pressure regulation through pilot adjustment.
  • V-port option evaluated against flow and differential pressure.

Automatic control valves are valves that open, close and regulate the flow of mains water based on water pressure. The force that moves the valve disc is generated by the diaphragm or piston in the actuator, which has a surface area that is a certain proportion larger than that of the valve disc. The valve opening is adjusted by the ratio at which the operating pressure acts on the actuator or piston. This adjustment is achieved using hydraulic valves known as pilot valves. Establishing hydraulic balance in water distribution networks is crucial for the efficient operation of the network. With ATLAS adjustable pressure-reducing valves, high inlet pressures are reduced to the desired pressure before being supplied to the system. Pressure-reducing valves can be connected in series to achieve the desired pressure. This ensures the system operates efficiently. The valve’s cavitation resistance has been enhanced through its extended body design, V-Port mountable control disc, and stainless steel disc seat.
