Connect M-Bus meters to a local reading system
An M-Bus converter provides communication between compatible heat, water or energy meters and the reading computer. ATLAS product information lists CNV150 and CNV250 options. Selection must consider each meter’s M-Bus load and the cable network alongside the total meter count.
Model comparison
| Model | Stated maximum capacity | Selection check |
|---|---|---|
| CNV150 | 150 meters | Verify total M-Bus loading, cabling and the polling plan. |
| CNV250 | 250 meters | Verify total M-Bus loading, cabling and the polling plan. |
Interfaces and operating features
- RS232 and USB 2.0 computer interfaces; verify compatibility with the reading software and drivers.
- M-Bus communication at 300–19200 baud. Meter and converter settings must match.
- Product information lists short-circuit/overcurrent protection, LEDs and audible alerts.
- For a two-wire M-Bus network, assess distance together with cable cross-section, capacitance, topology, device loading and data rate.
Local converter or 4G data collector?
For local computer-based meter reading, assess the converter interfaces. ATLAS M-BUS CONVERTER-4G is a separate option for direct MQTT transmission without a computer or external modem. Confirm the GSM hardware and exact CNV150/CNV250 variant during quotation.
Verify meter compatibility
A suitable M-Bus meter interface is required. A standard designation alone does not demonstrate compatibility with every make/model and every data record. Check addressing, reading software and data mapping.
Information needed for model selection
