Radar water surface velocity sensor
Uses Doppler radar to measure surface velocity in m/s.
ATLAS SAYAÇ
Monitor water surface velocity and level without contacting the water in irrigation canals, rivers and free-surface drains. The Atlas radar range can be configured from individual sensors to a solar-powered remote monitoring station.
Uses Doppler radar to measure surface velocity in m/s.
Measures distance to the water surface. Level is derived from the installation datum.
Measures surface velocity and level. Discharge is calculated using the surveyed cross-section and site calibration.
Reads sensors via RS485/Modbus RTU, stores time-stamped readings and transfers data over 4G or LoRaWAN.
Combines radar, data logger, mounting hardware and power equipment. AtlasServer integration is scoped for each project.
Water depth is used to determine the wetted cross-sectional area A(h). Surface velocity is converted to mean cross-sectional velocity using a site relationship established through reference measurements. Discharge is calculated as Q = A(h) × v̄.
Example. In a trapezoidal channel with a 0.80 m bottom width, 1.5:1 side slopes (horizontal:vertical) and 0.40 m water depth, the wetted area is 0.56 m². At a surface velocity of 0.60 m/s and an illustrative velocity coefficient of 0.85, discharge is approximately 286 L/s.
Discharge and volume monitoring at main canals and water delivery points.
Water level and surface velocity monitoring from a bridge or cantilever.
Monitoring in free-surface channels. Narrow clearances, foam and low velocities are assessed during the site survey.
Integrated or external solar panels and batteries are sized using winter solar availability and daily energy demand. Check operator coverage for 4G and gateway and network coverage for LoRaWAN. Local logging and data transfer after a communications outage are verified during project acceptance.
Share the channel cross-section, mounting height, approximate minimum and maximum water level and discharge, site photographs and preferred connectivity. Technical specifications and site configuration are agreed during quotation.
